Abstract: In this lecture, Dr. Weishan MIAO will present insights derived from seven years of ethnographic fieldwork, participant observation, and in-depth interviews, shedding light on the dynamics of digital intimacy in contemporary China. His analysis encompasses the transformation of the infrastructural foundations of intimate relationships, intergenerational modes of digital engagement, and the historical emergence and evolution of digital intimacy cultures.
About the Speaker: Dr. Weishan MIAO is an Associate Professor at the School of Journalism, Renmin University of China. His research focuses on the interplay between technology, culture, and society, with particular attention to marginality, inequality, and social justice in the Global South. His work has been published in numerous leading international journals, including Journal of Communication, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, New Media & Society, Social Media + Society, Information, Communication & Society, Mobile Media & Communication, and The Information Society. He has also served as a reviewer for over 50 SSCI-indexed journals and several English-language academic publishers.

Note: This training is divided into two modes: on-site intensive training and online learning. The fee for the on-site intensive training is 1980 yuan per person; the fee for online learning, which involves communication and discussion through the online training system and provides all participants with 8 class hours of extended video learning resources, is 900 yuan per person. A certificate of completion will be awarded to teachers who successfully complete all training modules and pass the evaluation.
