Dining Together, Creating Memories: “Stay Hungry: Meal with Your Professor” Has Successfully Concluded

(Meal with Your Professor, MYP)。

From November 17 to 28, 2025, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) successfully held the "Stay Hungry: Meal with Your Professor" (MYP) event for the 20252026 fall semester. As a core department dedicated to supporting campus teaching and fostering faculty-student connections, CTL is committed to breaking the boundaries of the traditional classroom through diverse initiatives, aiming to build a dynamic community that promotes meaningful dialogue between teachers and students. Over the course of two weeks, the event has attracted more than 500 participants, including both faculty and students, representing a variety of faculties and cultural backgrounds. Over shared lunches, dinners, or afternoon tea, engaging and sincere conversations unfolded in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

This years event continued the flexible model of "flexible scheduling + free grouping to invite professors," providing ample autonomy for participants. Whether it was a brief chat after an early morning class, a deeper conversation following an evening lecture, or a specially arranged dialogue during off-peak hours, students with different needs could find a participation style that suited them, fully meeting everyones expectations for substantive faculty-student exchange.

Notably, participation reached a new high this timeboth the number of sessions and total attendees set new records. Students joined with great enthusiasm and genuine sincerity, and each active participation reflected their appreciation for authentic, two-way sharing between faculty and students.

Both faculty and students spoke highly of the event. Yvette, a senior majoring in Public Relations and Advertising, shared that she has participated in MYP for five consecutive semesters. What began as a source of inspiration for adapting to campus life in her sophomore year evolved into gaining insights for future career paths and long-term planning in her senior year. She believes the event consistently offers valuable opportunities for in-depth dialogue with professors and, as a soon-to-graduate student, deeply cherishes the chance to create lasting memories with teachers before leaving campus.

In addition to the usual procedure of students inviting faculty, several teachers also took the initiative to reach out to students. Jason, a senior student in Finance, expressed delight at receiving a lunch invitation from Ms. Wanqi Wan from the School of Creative Culture, especially as a first-time participant. In his view, the event breaks away from traditional teacher-student interaction models, fostering a more relaxed and open atmosphere. It allowed him to engage in deeper discussions about course content and share personal interests with his professor over a meal, effectively bridging the distance between them.

Participating faculty members also offered high praise. Dr. Minqin MA, Assistant Professor from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), noted that the event created an excellent opportunity to enhance faculty-student interaction and improve teaching quality. It enabled instructors to receive direct feedback on teaching effectiveness, understand student expectations, and gain insight into the real challenges students face in their academic and personal lives, thereby bringing teachers and students closer together.

As a thoughtfully designed cross-cultural exchange platform by the CTL, this event not only effectively shortened the emotional distance between faculty and students but also successfully cultivated a campus academic culture characterized by mutual support and trust. Each conversation around the dining table, through the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences, deepened the connection between teachers and students, collectively etching warm memories unique to BNBU. Looking ahead, the CTL will continue to expand such informal interactive scenarios, allowing education to unfold naturally through dialogue and consistently infuse vitality and warmth into the shared growth of faculty and students.
