Peer Observation of Teaching (POT) Scheme, Semester1 of 2026 -2027

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to join the Peer Observation of Teaching (POT) Scheme, offered by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

The scheme provides a structured, confidential, and developmental 1-on-1 opportunity tailored to your specific teaching goals. Observation sessions will take place from 2 November to 27 November 2026 (Weeks 9–12).

Key Benefits

  • Observee-Led & Formative: You choose the specific teaching skills to focus on (e.g., student engagement, pacing, technology integration). The process is purely for professional growth.

  • Strictly Confidential: Detailed notes and feedback remain only between you and your observer.

  • Support for Academic Promotion: Peer course observation serves as formal evidence under “Teaching Outcomes” (for observees) and contributes to “Internal Services” (for observers).

  • Recognition: Observees receive a Certificate of Participation; Observers receive a Certificate of Appreciation plus a gift card.

How to Participate

  1. Prepare: Identify your focus areas and select a 1–2 hour class session. Complete the Pre-Observation Form and upload it via the MIS Survey System (https://mis.bnbu.edu.cn/survey/login.jsp).  Register at least one week ahead if you have already secured an observer, or at least two weeks ahead if you would like CTL to arrange a match.

  2. Observe: Your observer will attend the class, remain non-participatory, and take evidence-based notes on the Confidential Observation Form.

  3. Discuss & Complete: Meet shortly afterwards for a reflective discussion. The observer will share the Confidential Observation Form with you (for your personal records only). Both of you then sign the POT Summary Form, which the observee submits to CTL.

The POT Scheme Guide and all required forms are attached for your reference.

We warmly encourage you to participate. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (edithyan@bnbu.edu.cn) or Dr. Duanduan Wei (duanduanwei@bnbu.edu.cn).
